Hello Laura, we’re thrilled to have you on our media. Please tell us a little bit about your background and how you ended up choosing your field.

I studied Physics back in college but I quickly realized that it was not the path I wanted to pursue. I was still looking for my muse. Therefore, I did different types of internships in Cybersecurity, finance, and economics. I didn’t feel like any of them fit in with my passions. I then got an opportunity to get into marketing which ended up becoming something I really enjoyed and wanted to explore further. After my first marketing experience at a startup, I also started writing for Forbes and other big media outlets. Naturally, I was approached by many companies on how to secure coverage on these types of media channels. One thing led to another and after consulting many companies as a freelancer myself, I started hiring people to work with me. That is how LKI Consulting was founded.

How do you personally define success? What does it mean to you?

That is a really good question. For me, success is waking up every day and getting to do what I love doing in life. In my opinion, the achievements, status, and career you obtain do not mean much unless you are passionate about the things you are accomplishing and pursuing in life. It is also truly important for me to be making an impact on others and in the world. I always advocate for more women to be involved in the Tech Industry and want to inspire young girls to follow their passions.

What advice would you give to someone asking for tips about becoming an entrepreneur?

Do not be afraid to put yourself out there. Of course, there will be times when things are not going to look bright, or you feel like giving up, but believing in yourself is almost half of the job. Meeting new people, expanding your network, and sharing your ideas are musts in the industry.

We are entering an era where everyone is interested in multiple income streams. How does one decide on a business to pursue?

I actually do believe everyone should have multiple streams of income. It is important not just to stick to one. I’d say the goal must be having 3-5 different sources to feel financially secure. 

The easiest way to start earning money is by building a service-based business. This can be any type of business, depending on your expertise and know-how. You start as a freelancer and once you grow enough clientele – hire your first team member. This is the easiest way to generate quick capital. 

Then, investing that capital into stocks and Crypto would be a smart move in my book (by no means this is financial advice).  

Afterwards, when you have some sort of capital allocated to further business growth- the third step could be a product-based business in the field you already gathered experience with the services you provide. 

Another option is content creation. E-books, graphic designs, music samples – anything that you know how to do and people would be willing to buy. 

Later on, with enough capital, you can also consider becoming a passive investor in other businesses.

What 3 books would you recommend every entrepreneur read?

Awesome question. I cannot recommend Execution: The Discipline of Getting Things Done by Lawrence Bossidy and Ram Charan enough. Knowing how to get things done in the corporate world is essential for an entrepreneur. Another great read is Working with Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman. It is truly an eye-opener on how to improve your emotional intelligence, which is crucial for business and networking. My last suggestion would be Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman. It takes us on a groundbreaking tour of the mind and explains the two systems that drive the way we think and make choices.
